EFFECTIVE SKILLS FOR SUCCESSFUL FEDERAL RECRUITERS - Part 2

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) cordially invites you to join us for the second of a three-part webinar series on “Effective Skills for Successful Federal Recruiters.”

Everyone knows that Federal recruiters must possess technical knowledge and skills necessary to attract and recruit potential candidates for Federal jobs. That includes knowledge of recruitment-specific Federal laws and regulations, hiring flexibilities, veterans’ preference, USAJOBS, and specific programs such as Pathways and others.

However, success also depends on recruiters acquiring the relevant “soft” skills vital to interacting with talent sources and job seekers in the course of the recruitment cycle. Soft skills include attributes such as communication, collaboration, decision-making, problem solving, motivation (self and others), flexibility (adapting to different situations), networking and interaction between individuals and groups, and organization and time management.

Join an OPM representative for practical guidance and tips on effective recruitment skills.

The series is being offered in three sessions on three separate days. Each session will be 90 minutes, including a Q&A period. You may attend any of the sessions but you must register separately for each individual session.

Part 2 - Build Your Network, will cover the following:

Cultivate and Build Relationships

- Improve listening skills and learn techniques to be more influential and persuasive

- Understand how to respond to typical objections and how to offer solutions to pressing recruitment problems

- Find synergistic ways to accomplish the agency’s true recruitment needs, thereby turning “negatives” into “positives”

Consult with Your Partners

- Learn resources and techniques for researching labor market conditions and workforce trends

- Understand how to interact with sources of talent to get the word out about Federal jobs

- Learn tips on how to be a better advisor for agencies to help them meet their recruitment and hiring goals and outcomes
